Student Engagement and Early-Career Activities
The 47th IAEE International Conference offers a comprehensive program of activities designed to support graduate students, doctoral candidates, and recent PhD graduates pursuing careers in academia, government, international organizations, consulting, industry, and public policy.
Through dedicated student-focused events integrated into the conference program, participants will have opportunities to strengthen their research capabilities, receive guidance from leading scholars and practitioners, expand their international professional networks, and engage directly with the global energy economics community.
Graduate Student and Young Scholars Day

The Graduate Student, Young Scholars and Early-Career Researchers Day is a dedicated professional development program organized as part of the 47th IAEE International Conference in Santiago, Chile. The program is designed to equip graduate students, recent PhD graduates, early-career researchers, and young professionals with practical tools, mentoring opportunities, and international perspectives to support successful careers in energy research, public policy, business, consulting, international organizations, and leadership.
Through three complementary sessions, participants will explore how to build a successful research career, develop publishable research, and maximize the impact of their work across academia, government, international organizations, consulting, and the private sector.

The Graduate Student and Young Scholars Day is a dedicated program focused on mentoring, professional development, research dissemination, and policy engagement. The program is organized in collaboration with KAPSARC and the KAPSARC School of Public Policy (KSPP) and brings together leading academics, policy experts, and practitioners to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the next generation of energy researchers.

Student Poster Session
The Student Poster Session provides graduate students and recent PhD graduates with an opportunity to present ongoing or completed research in an interactive setting that encourages discussion, networking, and feedback.
Participants will engage directly with conference delegates from academia, government, industry, international organizations, and research institutions. The poster session is intended to foster academic exchange, improve research communication skills, and promote collaboration across disciplines and regions.
Posters may present completed research, work in progress, methodological innovations, policy analysis, or emerging research agendas relevant to energy economics, energy policy, energy markets, sustainability, climate policy, infrastructure, critical minerals, energy access, and related fields.
Best Poster Award
To recognize excellence in research communication and presentation, IAEE 2026 will present a Best Poster Award.
The award recognizes originality, analytical quality, policy relevance, visual presentation, and the ability to effectively communicate research findings to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.

Best Student Paper Award
In line with longstanding IAEE tradition, IAEE 2026 will recognize outstanding student research through the Best Student Paper Award.
Graduate students and recent PhD graduates presenting papers at the conference will be eligible for consideration. The award recognizes excellence in originality, methodological rigor, analytical contribution, relevance to energy economics and policy, and potential impact on academic research and professional practice.

Participation Across Student Activities
Students and recent PhD graduates are encouraged to participate in multiple student-focused activities throughout the conference, including the Graduate Student and Young Scholars Day, the Student Poster Session, and the Best Student Paper Award.
Eligible participants presenting papers or posters at the conference will automatically be considered for the corresponding student awards.
Graduate students and individuals who completed a graduate degree on or after June 18, 2025, are eligible for consideration.
All award recipients must attend the conference and present their work in person to receive the award.
